What Resonates is a new collaboration between Elliott Oliver, Gyan Shrosbree, and Liz Smith. The artists first met in the Painting Department at the Kansas City Art Institute, and later collaborated, while all three were residents of the Santa Fe Artist Colony in Los Angeles. Now, five years later, they've joined forces again. Each artist began the project with 30 sheets of paper and a limited time frame for completion. Each drawing has been worked on by all three artists, one at a time, building layer after layer. The title, WHAT RESONATES, refers to having the freedom to allow the work to be formed by spontaneous ideas and subsequent reactions as the work is passed along to each artist. The results are often humorous, sometimes ridiculous, and remarkably fluid.
